Haybag Maddie follows in the footsteps and brushstrokes of the inspirational Haybag Annie Hayward, who became beloved artist of the 385th Bomb Group of the US ‘Mighty 8th’. Haybag Annie painted B17 nose art – often sitting on a pile of bombs to reach the fuselage – and also many A2 jackets for the crews. So important was she that a B17 Flying Fortress was named ‘Haybag Annie’ in her honour.

Picking up her mantle Haybag Maddie Adamson now designs and handpaints both original and authentic reproduction A2 flying jackets honouring the grit, humour and sacrifice of the ‘masters of the air’ to whom we all owe so much.
